Furniship develops and manufactures bed programmes from Furniship-developed products or customer requirements, with format, dimensions, construction, materials and finish developed around the programme.

Frame, headboard and base worked as one covered object. Nothing structural is on show, so the cover carries the whole of the product's appearance.
Timber
Frame and headboard in solid or engineered timber, where joinery and finish are part of the design rather than beneath it.

Section, joint and coating carrying the structure. A different discipline with different failure points, at the same scale.
Storage & lift-up
Where the volume under the mattress becomes usable. The addition changes access, structure and assembly as much as it changes capacity.
Platform & low profile
Formats where the base is the design and the relationship to the floor is the strongest line in the object.
Headboard-led
Designs where the headboard is the reason the bed was specified, and the frame's job is to disappear beneath it.
Mixed-material constructions, divan and base-led formats and other programme-specific executions are developed the same way. Formats, dimensions, constructions, materials and finishes are developed around the requirements of the programme, subject to programme development, quotation and technical feasibility. 02The system
The visible bed is the smaller half of the product.
A bed looks like one object and behaves like six. Every pair below has to be resolved against the others, which is why a bed cannot be designed as an appearance and engineered afterwards — change the support and the frame changes, change the headboard height and the scale of the whole piece moves with it.
Where two parts meet
MattressSupport
The bed is built around the mattress the programme specifies, not the other way round. Depth and type change where the sleeping surface ends up, which changes how the headboard reads and how the bed is entered.
SupportFrame
Whatever carries the mattress has to deliver that load into the structure without relying on the parts that were only meant to hold the shape.
FrameOverall scale
A bed's footprint is set by the mattress, but its presence is set by everything around it. Rail depth, base overhang and leg position decide whether the object reads light or heavy at the same internal size.
HeadboardRoom presence
Height, width and thickness are among the strongest influences on the piece's scale, and they work from across the room rather than up close.
Material executionConstruction detail
What is left visible decides what has to be resolved as design rather than as production. An exposed joint is looked at; a covered one is not.

Where a bed stores or lifts, the structure has to accept a moving part and the assembly has to survive it. The addition is structural before it is a feature.
No height, load rating or dimensional rule is published for any of these, because there is no universal one. The targets are set by the programme specification — the mattress sizes a market requires, the price position, and the assortment the bed has to sit in.
03Frame & support
A bed frame is not a rectangle with a headboard attached.
It carries a load that moves, holds a geometry that has to stay square through years of use, and does both while being something a customer can take apart and rebuild in a bedroom. Those are three different engineering problems inside one component.
What the frame is doing at once
Holding the support system
Whatever carries the mattress — slats, a platform, a sprung base — has to be located and held, and the way it is held is what the sleeper feels through the mattress.
Keeping the geometry
A bed is a large rectangle under a moving load. Staying square is a construction decision taken at the corners, and it is what separates a bed that lasts from one that develops a noise.
Integrating legs and base
Where the frame meets the floor is both a structural junction and the strongest visual line on the lower half of the piece.
Surviving assembly
Assembly is unusually central to many bed programmes because the product often reaches its destination as multiple components that must fit together correctly. The fixings frequently have to work more than once.
No load capacity, slat spacing, timber section, hardware rating or tolerance is published here. Those are specified for a programme, agreed as part of the quotation, and confirmed on the sample — not asserted on a category page.
04The headboard
The part that sells the bed and the part that holds it up are rarely the same part.
On most bed programmes the headboard carries the visual identity while the frame carries the structural work. It is the element a buyer photographs, the element a customer chooses between, and the one where a small change moves the whole product.
What a headboard decision actually moves
Height
One of the strongest influences on the bed's presence, and it works from the doorway rather than from the bed.
Width
Flush with the frame, or wider than it. One reads as a bed; the other reads as a piece of wall furniture.
Thickness
How far the headboard stands off the wall, which sets the room footprint and the shadow line behind it.
Upholstery
Cover, fill and how the cover is worked over the panel — buttoning, channelling, a plain face — each a different manufacturing operation.
Exposed material
Timber or metal on show, where species, finish and the joint at the edge are all judged from a metre away.
Panel construction
How the headboard is built up behind the surface, which decides how flat it stays and how it takes a fixing.
Detailing
Edge profile, seam or joint position, and the transition into the frame — the details that make two similar headboards read differently.
That relationship is common rather than universal. On platform, base-led and low-profile formats the base is the design and the headboard is secondary or absent, and the same programme thinking applies in reverse.

Constructions, materials and finishes are developed around the requirements of the programme. The executions shown are examples of the range, not its limit — and none of them is harder than the others in the abstract. What changes is where the difficulty sits, and on the exposed executions it sits where somebody can see it.
06Storage & mechanism
Storage changes more than the space under the mattress.
The volume beneath a bed is already there. Making it usable is what changes the product — because the base now has to move, the structure has to accept a moving part, and the assembly has to survive being opened and closed for years by somebody standing beside it.
Storage beds and lift-up or mechanism-based executions can be developed according to programme requirements.
What adding storage changes
Access
How the volume is reached — a lifting base, drawers in the side rail, or a combination — and that decision is made against the room the bed will stand in, not only against the bed.
Structure
A lift-up mechanism introduces additional structural, hardware and access requirements that have to be resolved with the frame.
Hardware
A moving assembly introduces components that are specified, fitted and checked as part of the product rather than as an accessory to it.
Build order
More components and a defined sequence, on a product that has to be assembled correctly to function rather than only to stand up.
No mechanism force, cycle figure, supplier or safety rating is published. Where a programme requires a mechanism-based execution, its specification, components and any required testing are agreed for that programme and confirmed on the sample.
For a bed, the sample can also rehearse assembly.

A physical sample can be inspected at source or shipped to the customer before production, and the approved piece becomes the production standard for the order and for reorders. Timing depends on the product and construction and is confirmed per programme.

Taken back down to components and packed for the way a large, part-assembled product actually travels.
Not every bed follows an identical sequence. Which components run in parallel, and where they converge, depends on the construction and the programme — an upholstered bed and a knock-down timber frame are not made the same way.
Where the customer asks for it, Furniship takes full responsibility for the quality-control programme on the order — incoming materials, in-line checks, dimensions and construction, appearance and finish, packaging, labels and final pre-shipment inspection, with photographic reporting.

The bed the customer meets is the one that comes out of the cartons.
A bed is delivered as components and becomes a product in somebody's bedroom, usually with the instructions on the floor. Everything that happens between the last inspection and that moment is part of what was manufactured.
Frame disassembly
Which components ship apart and which stay together, decided against the product and the shipment rather than by habit.
Headboard protection
The largest, most visible and most easily marked surface on the product, and often the one packed last.
Surface protection
Upholstery, timber finish and coated metal each mark differently, and a protection method that suits one can damage another.
Hardware packs
Complete, identified and where the person assembling the bed will look for them — a missing fixing stops an entire delivery.
Component identification
Marked so the right part is picked up first. A correctly manufactured bed assembled in the wrong order is a defect the factory never made.
Assembly instructions
Where the programme includes them, produced against the actual product rather than against a similar one.
Carton configuration
How the components divide between cartons, which decides handling, damage risk and what arrives together.
No universal packing method or carton configuration is published, and no cube or volume saving is claimed. Packing is developed for the product and the programme, confirmed on the sample, and checked before shipment.

- Which bed types can Furniship manufacture?
- Upholstered, timber, metal, storage and lift-up, platform and headboard-led beds are all developed as programmes, along with mixed-material and other programme-specific constructions. Formats, dimensions, constructions, materials and finishes are developed around the requirements of the programme, subject to development, quotation and technical feasibility.
- Can the dimensions change?
- Yes. Format, overall dimensions, headboard height and width, frame depth and base height are developed around the programme. Because a bed is built around the mattress a market requires, mattress size compatibility is settled first and the rest of the product is resolved against it.
- Can the headboard be redesigned?
- Yes. Height, width, thickness, upholstery or exposed material, panel construction and detailing are all open, on a Furniship-developed bed or on your own design. Because the headboard carries much of the product's scale, a change to it is developed against the frame rather than applied to a finished one.
- Can Furniship make upholstered, timber and metal beds?
- Yes, and mixed-material constructions where a programme requires them. What changes between them is not difficulty but where the difficulty sits — on the exposed executions it sits somewhere the customer can see.
- Can Furniship make storage or lift-up beds?
- Yes. Storage beds and lift-up or mechanism-based executions can be developed according to programme requirements. The specification of any moving assembly, and any testing the destination market requires, are agreed for that programme and confirmed on the sample.
- Can we use our own design?
- Yes. A defined design or drawing runs as an OEM programme: engineered for production, sampled, and manufactured against the approved sample.
- Can the sample be shipped to us?
- Yes. A physical sample can be inspected at source or shipped to the customer before production, and the approved piece becomes the production standard. Timing depends on the product and construction and is confirmed per programme.
- What is the minimum order quantity?
- MOQs are set around the product and programme rather than one fixed threshold. They vary with construction, materials and the requirements of the programme itself.
- Can packaging and branding be customised?
- Yes. Labelling, branding and packaging are set per programme, and are part of a private label execution rather than an addition to one. On a bed that also covers component identification and assembly instructions where the programme includes them.
- Can testing be arranged?
- Yes. Relevant product and material testing can be arranged through external laboratories where the destination market or programme requires it.
